The Iron King

The Iron King is the first book in the series "The Iron Fey" written by Julie Kagawa.

~*~Spoiler Alert~*~

I loved the authors idea behind this book. Julie took a well known story, a Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare, and wrote a continueance to the story in our modern time. In the story, a sixteen year old girl dicovers she is king Oberon's doughter and that her best friend is actually Robin Goodfellow. Her brother gets kidnapped by an evil king and she is forced into the quite cruel Fairyland where she meets the hot but icy prince Ash.

This book was great. there was a lot of action and drama and tons of great scenes. but there where a few problems in the book that made me not love it as much as I would've want to... the main one, The main character reminises a little to much. if you read the book in a week or less, then reading the character "remeber" stuuf that you read about not to long ago is annoying. I don't like to read again about scenes that happened in the same book that I'm reading and sadly the phanomanon gets worse in the other books.

Even so, the story in this book and in all the others is great and I really anjoyed reading it.

I especialy liked the fact that even after Megan gets her happy ending and save her brother after killing the evil iron king she doesn't walk out of this whole experiance without a cost. right after she returned home with her brother, she is forced to hold her end in the deal with prince Ash and go as a prisoner with him to the winter court. Usually after the "big scene" in a book, the author gives them a little time to recover but not Julie Kagawa, she made Megan pay right after and that was very original in a book that was based on an existing world and story.

Anyway, if your into fairy books then you should definatly read this series.
